Engineering Associate [HBCU Student Position]

Location: Atlanta, GA
 
Part Time: 10-20 hours/month

Job Summary: 
 
The Engineering Associate will support the technology needs of Ponix Farms by working with teams to design, implement, and support system solutions in manufacturing scale-up processes. This role involves contributing to the installation and maintenance of various technological components and ensuring our technological infrastructure enhances productivity, efficiency, and sustainability.

Job Duties:
  • Install microprocessors, touch screens, and wiring of units.
  • Work with the fabrication team to finish units in a timely manner.
  • Participate in design reviews.
  • Review CAD drawings, electrical schematics, and other system diagrams.
  • Utilize project management and risk management tools to meet cost, quality, and schedule objectives.
  • Collaborate with team members to identify technological solutions to improve farm operations.
  • Document engineering processes and maintain technical documentation.
  • Utilize product technologies including electro-mechanical components, pump assemblies and timers, microprocessors and control panels, CAD/Electrical Schematics/3D design (Rhino), and geothermal, solar, wind, and storage technologies.
Internship Project: 
 
As an Engineering Associate at Ponix Farms, you will design a comprehensive mega farm, including developing the floor plan and integrating electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems. Your project will also involve creating a business plan to support the implementation and strategic direction of the mega farm. This role provides an opportunity to work on a large-scale agricultural project, combining technical design with strategic planning to advance our innovative farming solutions.
 
Qualifications: 
 
  • Pursuing a degree in Engineering, or a related field (product, electrical, mechanical, etc).
  • Demonstrated experience with some or all of the following through internships, class projects, or related activities:
      • Working knowledge of microprocessors/robotics programming
      • Technical problem solving
      • Researching/integrating sustainable technology
      • Team leadership, organization, and communication skills
  • Desired skills include: project management experience, information technology/networking, system safety design, coursework in engineering and manufacturing processes, knowledge of automated hydroponic systems.

Compensation: 
 
$1,500 stipend per semester
