Job Summary:
The Computer Science Associate will support the technology needs of Ponix Farms by developing and maintaining software and systems used in our hydroponic farming operations. This role involves working closely with the Ponix team to ensure our technological infrastructure enhances productivity, efficiency, and sustainability.

Develop and maintain software applications for farm management, including inventory, crop monitoring, and sales tracking. Assist in the integration and maintenance of IoT devices and sensors used in the farming process.
Analyze data collected from farming operations to improve crop yield and farm efficiency.
Support the development of automated systems for monitoring and controlling the indoor farming environment.
Collaborate with team members to identify technological solutions to improve farm operations.
Provide technical support and training to staff on the use of farm management software and systems.
Document software and systems development processes and maintain technical documentation.
Internship Project:
In the Computer Science Apprenticeship, you will focus on automating a Ponix Mini by programming to control its lighting. Your project will involve designing and developing a software solution that integrates with Ponix Mini hardware, optimizing the lighting system to enhance plant growth and system efficiency. You will gain hands-on experience in coding, system integration, and performance testing, while also refining your problem-solving skills. This apprenticeship will provide you with practical knowledge in software development and its application in smart farming technology, contributing to the advancement of modern agricultural practices.
Qualifications:
Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
Experience with programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, or similar.
Familiarity with database management and data analysis.
Interest in IoT and automation technologies.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Passion for sustainability, food justice, and community development.
